Swiss car entrepreneur Rinspeed can always be relied upon to unveil an extraordinary concept at the Geneva Auto Show. This year, it rolled out the iChange, a "1-2-3-seater." The concept is a streamlined sports coupe for just one driver, but the rear end lifts to transform it into a compact SportsVan with seating for three.

It's a radical machine with a profile that could well have come from Lotus. And there's more. The iChange is green, powered by a 130-kilowatt electric motor. "We have created an extremely flexible vehicle, thinking out the concepts of flexibility and the constantly changing energy demand in the process," says Rinspeed boss Frank Rinderknecht.

The iChange might not make it to production. But it shows that electric vehicles can incorporate some neat ideas in areas of the design entirely separate from their propulsion.
